Brakka acoustic hanging panel. Transparencies are an important factor in our textile designs, just like rhythmic repetitions. By repeating loops, twists and openings in the fabric I create a kind of graphic 3D patterns. Our latest product Brakka has a structure that is created by weaving with a pair of wooden sticks. The sticks provide stability and the fascinating relief in the surface of the felt. The result is an intriguing repetition of loops with an ever-changing transparency depending on where you are as a viewer. Send us an email for more info about Brakka.
Because we believe that sustainable processing and production of wool in the Netherlands is possible Plectere has teamed up with The Knitwit Stable. They collect the Dutch wool we need for our felt. Because there is no wool processing industry in the Netherlands, we have the wool washed in Belgium and felted in Italy. Back in our workshop in Amsterdam we braid the felt by hand into the Plectere walls. Plectere is therefore now also available in 100% Dutch wool. Our approach is clear with the shortest possible chain, in which a fair price applies to everyone. We process the wool in a traditional and sustainable way to reduce the environmental impact of wool. By organizing it this way, we can offer transparency about animal welfare and origin and at the same time organize a sustainable and responsible production chain for all those involved.
NEW!!! Plectere re_play, In ecru or colour, depending on what's left… so nothing of the beautiful wool material is lost. Re-Play! The game of playing with transparency in this thick wool felt material resulted in a graceful pattern. A new acoustic element in which the strips are sewed in large and smaller curves, flipping them to one or both sides, and with that making a new visual structure.

What do you do with the leftover felt strips from the production of Plectere? In order not to waste any of the precious wool felt, small pieces have been donated to craft classes at a primary school for years. Larger felt leftovers were stored for a while, but as production intensified and felt suppliers were also offering their remnants to use for new designs the necessity of answering this question became evident.

Plectere re_play, When passing by a re_play panel the diversity of the wavy pattern plays with the transparency and thus with the visibility, giving a dynamic feeling to spaces.
